Nomination | Panagiota Dafniotis, Director & Chief Legal and Intellectual Property Officer
Michel Dion, the director general of the Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology (INSAT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Panagiota Dafniotis as Director & Chief Legal and Intellectual Property Officer for INSAT.
About Panagiota Dafniotis
Panagiota has deep experience working with public and private companies of all sizes, from start-ups to scaling technology companies to Fortune 500 organizations, as well as venture capital investors and many types of research institutions. She brings more than 25 years of corporate and intellectual property (IP) experience much of which was in senior and strategic leadership roles at public companies and a leading global law firm. Her uniquely diverse legal background in litigation, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions and governance is a strong complement to her recognized expertise in IP strategy, protection and commercialization. She was recently selected as IAM Strategy 300: The World’s Leading IP Strategists award.
Panagiota is actively involved in the innovation ecosystem in Canada and is a frequent lecturer and speaker at various industry initiatives, universities and forums including the Université de Montréal, HEC Montréal, , the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, and the International Economic Forum of the Americas (IEFA). She is a member of Standards Council of Canada (SCC) Mirror Committee SMC/ISO/TC 279 – Innovation Management as well as the SCC Standardization Advisory Committee on Environmental, Social, and Governance.
Panagiota also continues in her free time to provide IP education and individual mentoring to founders of technology start-ups and to young legal professionals including having served as a mentor for Women in Tech Canada’s Women in Communications & Technology Mentorship Program.
