Nomination: Walter Chan, Director of Business Operations

Michel Dion, Director General of the Initiative for Sustainable Aviation Technology (INSAT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Walter Chan as the new Director of Business Operations. With over 15 years of experience in the aerospace industry, Walter has held pivotal leadership roles in engineering, operations, business development, R&D, and program management.

Throughout his career, Walter has spearheaded projects in advanced air mobility, secured both government and private financing, overseen large-scale research programs in alternative propulsion, and crafted strategic roadmaps for innovation and commercialization of technology; all while developing and mentoring young talent to be the next generation of aerospace leaders.

In his new capacity, Walter will oversee the resources, planning, direction, and coordination of the corporation’s operational facets. Ensuring the organizational stability of the corporation will allow INSAT to support Canada’s aerospace industry in developing environmentally sustainable technologies for the future of aviation.

Walter is recognized in the industry as an energetic and outgoing strategic leader, communicator, and problem-solver. He has a passion for fostering collaboration, growth, and innovation in Canada’s aerospace ecosystem.

Walter’s familiarity with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), prime contractors, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), research institutions, academia, non-profit organizations (NPOs), and governmental bodies will be instrumental in executing INSAT’s collaborative model, as well as the development of a long-term strategy to position INSAT at the forefront of the global push for innovative, low-carbon transportation technologies.
